Ayr: Past, Present, Future
An Open Call Exhibition with Narture CIC
Nature CIC is excited to share an opportunity to get involved in a local art exhibition to celebrate the opening of The Auld Toy Shop on Newmarket Street. Our exhibition is called Ayr: Past, Present and Future as a tribute to the town that we call home. Many people who have spent time in Ayr fondly remember Beattie’s toy shop and we are hopeful that we can create new memories for people and create a place for creativity, learning, play and connection.
Project Details:
We’re keen for people from all walks of life to have the chance to contribute to this exhibition and we are looking for submissions in a range of art media including, but not limited to: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, illustration, jewellery design, ceramics and textiles.
If you would like to get involved, the process is simple, fill in the form which will enable you to share some information about your artwork and provide your contact details.
Every artist will be included, but we can’t guarantee that we will be able to include all work submitted due to restrictions on space.
We require work to be dropped off to
The Auld Toy Shop, 25 Newmarket Street, Ayr, KA7 1LL by 18th August 2026.
Although we aren’t making a hanging fee mandatory, we would greatly appreciate any donations that you are able to make. A reasonable hanging fee is £10 and any contributions that we receive will enable us to do more important work with the local community.
Your work will be displayed as part of a diverse exhibition in a busy highstreet location. We will be celebrating the launch of both our new venue and our Culture Collective project, which has seen us receive £230,000 to work with local people and artists. Exhibiting and joining us for our launch night is a great way to introduce yourself to the team and find out more about this exciting project.
We welcome people who are new to displaying their artwork as well as established artists. You do not require a formal arts education to be involved in the exhibition. We are not taking a fixed commission from artists, but we greatly appreciate any donations from sales of artwork. We are asking artists and makers to interpret the theme Ayr: Past, Present and Future in their own way and welcome creations inspired by both place and people.
The exhibition will run until Monday 24th August and artists are asked to collect their work on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th August 2026.
Applicants can expect:
• To have their selected work included in the Ayr: Past, Present and Future Exhibition
• An invitation to the Launch Event on Friday 21st August 2026 (4-8pm)
• The chance to sell their work
• To be part of a network of exhibiting artists
