MAKE a 2026 Interior
A Collaborative Creative Residency with Aimee Kent
Join Scottish surface pattern and textile designer Aimee Kent for a series of hands-on workshops and an exhibition exploring immersive, personality-filled interiors, colour, and sustainable making. Discover expressive design, natural dyeing, and mindful material use in her month long residency in Make for the month of June.
About Aimee Kent
Aimee Elizabeth Kent is a Scotland-based multidisciplinary surface pattern and textile designer, specializing in sustainable print design for interiors, fashion, and lifestyle products. A Glasgow School of Art graduate, she combines hand-crafted and digital techniques inspired by nature and traditional processes. With over fifteen years of experience, Aimee has collaborated with notable organizations and her work has been featured in publications like British Vogue and ELLE, showcased at international fashion weeks.
Her current focus is on interior textiles and home décor, emphasizing traditional techniques in modern design. Aimee is committed to sustainable design and also teaches workshops on surface pattern and textile design. For the Blank Canvas residency, her project "Pattern Drenched: MAKE a 2026 Interior" involves collaborative workshops on sustainable interior design, using natural food dyes and eco-friendly inks to transform the MAKE studio into an immersive patterned space.

THE WORKSHOPS
Participants must be able to attend all 3 workshop sessions.
No previous experience required!

SESSION 1: Pattern Drenching & Surface Design
Tuesday, 2nd June | 4PM – 6PM
Location: MAKE, 30 Newmarket St
What to expect: Sketching, experimental mark-making, and developing original motifs inspired by local flora, fauna, and architecture.
SESSION 2: Natural Fabric Dyeing
Monday, 8th June | 4PM – 6PM
Location: MAKE, 30 Newmarket St
What to expect: Sustainable dyeing using food by-products (turmeric, beetroot, onion skins) and fixing with local sea salt.
SESSION 3: Block Printing & Playful Styling
Tuesday, 16th June | 4PM – 7PM
Location: MAKE, 30 Newmarket St
What to expect: Transforming your hand-dyed fabrics with block printing, stamps, and fabric paints ready for the final installation.
THE EXHIBITION
Friday 26th June | 4PM – 8PM
Location: MAKE, 30 Newmarket St
Celebrate our first Blank Canvas residency! See the studio transformed into a pattern-drenched interior installation. Featuring a live interior photoshoot, a cushion-manufacturing showcase by a live seamstress, an open wall art workshop, and a unique food-to-fabric circular tasting experience.
